For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to join the field of Veterinary Medicine. Over the years with schooling, volunteering and being around the pets’ of family and friends, it has solidified my love for this profession. In 2004, I received a Bachelor of Science from the Nova Scotia Agricultural College (NSAC) in Truro, NS. Unsure of where to tailor my interest in the field, I moved to Ottawa for a few years, before returning to the NSAC in Truro to take the program in Veterinary Technology graduating in 2008 with high honors.
Halifax is where I started my career and have been ever since. I have worked in many different fields – small animal companion practices, teaching at a local college, some shelter medicine and finally returning to small animal practice.
I have a special love of surgery/dentistry, the anesthesia to allow them to have the surgical procedures and the analgesia/pain management pre-, during and post-operatively. One day I hope to further pursue training in specifically anesthesia and analgesia as well as obtain a Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) title in that discipline.
When I am not at work, I love to explore the province with hiking and camping. My two black labs, Remy and Chester, as well as their feline brother, Onyx, routinely accompany me on these journeys. Not to say I do not love a good book or movie and a comfy couch, but the outdoors in this province/country is an amazing place to explore!!
